Your Mother & Mine by Mikael

Moms, Grandma’s, Soon-to-Be’s, Adoptive, and even Step… every kind of mom deserves this day to be celebrated.  After all, mothers are perhaps the most important people in the world.

I know my mom is at the top of my “important people” list.  I love her so much!  She raised me and my brother with honesty, respect, and has let us make our own decisions… even our own mistakes.  She always supports us no matter what we decide to do.  All she does is give us what we need in order to take the higher road, stay smart, and be better people.  If it weren’t for her, I don’t think I’d be the strong person I am today.  She’s most definitely one of my very best friends.  She doesn’t need to snoop or anything because I tell her everything she needs to know.  I’m very lucky to have such a great relationship with my mom!  I love her to death!  She’s beautiful, smart, funny, a good friend, knows how to make a killer martini, is loved by nearly everyone that knows her, and is definitely has the “cool mom” title. She’s just wonderful! I just wish I could give her everything she’s ever given me in return somehow… she deserves it.

Here’s a video of me singing a fandub of Peter Pan’s song/scene “Your Mother and Mine.”  It’s such a tender moment in the show, and the lyrics are very true.  I’ll post them below.  Enjoy!

Happy Mother’s Day!  And yes, I’m going to give one in particular to my own mothers: Mom, StepMom, and my Grandma.

A mother, a real mother is the most wonderful person in the world.
She’s the angel voice that bids you goodnight;
Kisses your cheek, whispers sleep tight.

Your mother and mine
Your mother and mine
The helping hand that guides you along
Whether you’re right, whether you’re wrong
Your mother and mine
Your mother and mine

What makes mothers all that they are?
Might as well ask: what makes a star?
Ask your heart to tell you her worth.
Your heart will say–heaven on earth
And another word for divine…
Your mother and mine.
